SANTA MONICA- Following the heartbreaking attack at the Ariana Grande concert that left 22 dead and 59 wounded, at Manchester Arena, security is being heightened for Manchester United and at sporting venues all around the country.

The Manchester United players, who are gearing up to play in the Europa League finals against Ajax tomorrow, underwent intense security checks before heading into practice on Tuesday.  The extra security measures involved many of the players cars being checked along with the team bus undergoing a detailed search.  The team, who practices about 30 minutes away from where the tragic attack took place, had a minute of silence before beginning training on Tuesday.

Additionally, security at Friends Arena in Stockholm, where the Europa League final match will take place, has been beefed up.  Fans are recommended to get there early and allow for extra time to enter the stadium due to additional security precautions being taken.  Police presence has already been increased and everyone will be on high alert.  Manchester United has cancelled their pre-match press conference, and asked for permission to wear black armbands for their game against Ajax in the wake of this tragedy.

Manchester United will play Ajax tomorrow as 11:45 AM pacific time.
