DECINES-CHARPIEU, FRANCE – JULY 07: Samantha Mewis #3 warming up prior to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup France Final match between Netherlands and the United States at Groupama Stadium on July 07, 2019 in Decines-Charpieu, France.

CHICAGO – The US Women’s is on the verge of creating soccer history. As the team warms up for the final match against Netherlands, the world is holding their collective breath – in hopes of seeing another US victory – or in hopes of seeing the powerhouse defeated.  Either way, the US Women’s team is in the soccer spotlight today.

Throughout the tournament, the US Women’s team has played as a cohesive unit and earned the respect of the fans who have travelled around the world to see them.  They have maintained their collective composure despite the various stories that have developed along with the tournament.

Beginning with the lopsided defeat against Thailand.  The ongoing discussion about disparity in wages between male and female athletes, and finally, the question whether or not the US team is too proud or too confident in their abilities.

Regardless of the outcome of the match, the US Women’s – and all the athletes who participated in the 2019 France World Cup, deserve an enthusiastic round of applause for the high level of play and professionalism.

Go Team.
