SANTA MONICA – The Portland Thorns got down to business Wednesday, shutting out the Portland Thorns and beating them 3-0.

Kansas City actually actually dominated the beginning of the game, with the Thorns looking a little sluggish.  However, Christine Sinclair got the ball rolling 15 minutes into the game. She rebounded a shot taken by Allie Long and hit the ball into the back of the net.  This put the Thorns up 1-0 and from there on out, it was their game.

17 minutes later, in minute 32, the Thorns were back at it again.  This time, Haley Raso came in with her first goal of the season.  She chipped the ball over the goalkeeper’s head and into the back left corner of the goal, doubling the Thorns lead.  Despite Kansas City trying to get a goal, for the remainder of the first half and most of the second half, the scored remained 2-0.

Then, in minute 75, Sinclair was back for her second goal of the match.  She received the ball on a cross and powered it into the far corner of the net.  This put Portland up 3-0, which was the final score of the game.  This win helps the number three ranked Thorns get back on track after a tough loss to the number eight ranked Washington Spirit last weekend.

Next, the Thorns will take on Seattle Reign tomorrow at 7:30.  Kansas City will face Houston Dash on Wednesday at 5:00.
