SANTA MONICA – 32-year-old Megan Rapinoe was on fire this week, scoring 4 goals in 2 games!  The star player is a forward for Seattle Reign and was voted Player of the Week for week 11 by the NWSL Media Association.

She started off her triumphant week on Wednesday, June 28th when Seattle Reign took on the Chicago Red Stars.  Although the Red Stars got the first goal in minute 41, Rapinoe came back and equalized the game in minute 58 on a penalty shot.  Then, in minute 84 she was fouled in the box and stepped up to make yet another penalty kick, scoring her second goal and winning the game for Seattle Reign, 2-1.

Then, just a few days later, Rapinoe was back at it again on Saturday, July 1st when Seattle Reign took on the Portland Thorns.  Rapinoe scored the first goal of the match at the very end of the first half, stealing the ball from a defender and sliding it into the goal.  However, Rapino was not done just yet.  In minute 81 she found the back of the net once again, scoring her fourth goal of the week and helping Seattle Reign beat the Thorns, 2-0. Rapinoe now has scored 9 goals this season, making her the top scorer in the NWSL this year.

Seattle Reign, who now sit in 3rd place in the NWSL, will next face off against North Carolina Courage on Saturday at 4:30.
