SANTA MONICA – Congratulations to Lindsey Horan who was voted Player of the Week by the NWSL Media Association.  The 23-year-old scored two goals for the Portland Thorns this Saturday when they took on Sky Blue FC.

Her first goal came 20 minutes in when Nadia Nadim sent the ball flying towards the box on a free kick.  Horan then headed it into the corner of the net beautifully. The perfectly executed shot also won the honor of being voted Goal of the Week.

Although Horan’s goal had already put the Thorns up 1-0, she wasn’t stopping anytime soon.   She kept putting on strong offensive pressure and then, in minute 42, Horan found the back of the net once again.  This time, it was Meghan Klingenberg who crossed the ball into the box and Horan was right there to redirect it into the goal.

Horan’s two goals ended up being the only ones scored in the entirety of the match and, thanks to Horan, the game ended with the Thorns beating Sky Blue FC, 2-0.

Next, the Portland Thorns will take on Sky Blue FC, once again, on Saturday, June 17 at 7:00.
