SANTA MONICA – The Portland Timbers kept up their 8 game undefeated streak, tying Chicago Fire 2-2 on Wednesday.

From the very first minute of the game, the Timbers were getting promising chances on goal.  However, it wasn’t until Chicago Fire had a handball in the box in the 23rd minute that the Timbers finally scored. Fanendo Adi took the penalty kick and made his 10th goal of the season.

Chicago Fire then ramped up the heat and just 10 minutes later answered with a goal of their own.  Juninho kicked the ball towards the goal and Alvarez redirected it with a tap into the back of the net to tie the game up, 1-1.

Chicago kept their fire alive and scored another goal in minute 61.  This time, Alvarez crossed the ball to Vincent whose shot bounced off the top cross bar and into the goal.  This gave Chicago Fire a 2-1 lead.

After Chicago scored two goals in a row, the Portland Timbers came back with a goal of their own in minute 70.  Valeri tapped the ball to Blanco who put it away in the far corner of the net and equalized the game.  This was the last goal of the match and the game ended 2-2.

Next up, Chicago will take on NYC FC on July 22nd at 11:00, while the Portland Timbers will play Real Salt Like on July 19th at 7:30.
