After crushing defeats in their first two games of the final round of the World Cup Qualifiers, the USMNT came back on Friday with a bang.  In what some were calling a “must win” game, the USA smashed Honduras 6-0 giving them three points and revitalizing their chances to make it into the 2018 World Cup.

The USMNT started the game off right when Sebastian Lletget scored just 5 minutes in.  However, in the 17th minute of the game he was subbed out due to a left ankle injury, but that was not enough to stop the US.  Just 10 minutes later Bradley put the ball in the net once more, making it 2-0 and giving the US a little safety net.

After that, the rest of the game was dominated by one of the oldest and one of the youngest members of the team.  Dempsey and Pulisic were on fire, proving age is just a number.   Dempsey went on to score a hat trick, only to be added to by Pulisic’s goal, leaving the final score at 6-0.  Pulisic also had two assists and is continuing to prove he is the next big thing in soccer for the USMNT.

Despite this outstanding victory led by new coach Bruce Arena, this is no time to get lazy, there is still a lot on the line.

While this win pushed the USA out of last place, a win and getting three points when they take on Panama would give them the security that they need in these crucial World Cup Qualifiers.  They play Panama in Panama City Tuesday at 7pm.  The game will stream on belN Sports Connect and fuboTV.
