SANTA MONICA – Yesterday, Mexico tied Jamaica, 0-0, while El Salvador defeated Curacao 2-0.

Mexico and Jamaica’s scoreless game almost all changed in minute 39 when Jesus Molina headed the ball past Jamaica’s goalkeeper towards the back of the net.  Unfortunately for him, Jermaine Taylor was in the way and blocked the goal with a header of his own.

As the game continued, Mexico kept putting in a good effort and maintaining the majority of possession, however, they just could not seem to get through Jamaica’s defense.

Although neither team got the win or even a goal, both Mexico and Jamaica now have four points and are in a good position to advance to the next round.

El Salvador also faced Curacao yesterday and defeated them 2-0.

The scoring got started in minute 21 when Gerson Mayen slid the ball past Curacao’s goalkeeper and into the side post of the net.

Then, just three minutes later, Rodolfo Zelaya received a long cross and broke away from Curacao’s defense.  He then shot a beauty into the far corner of the goal, giving El Salvador a 2-0 lead.

The game was pretty quiet from there on out, with no one else scoring for the entirety of the match.

Next, Costa Rica will take on French Guiana today at 4:30 and Canada will play Honduras at 7:00.
