The SheBelieves tournament started Wednesday in Chester, PA when England fell to France with a final score of 1 – 2.  The second game of the tournament featured the reigning champs, Team USA against Germany.  Both teams came out strong and played with one ranked USA scoring a narrow victory over number two ranked Germany.

After a scoreless first half wrought with neither team making any real power plays, Lynn Williams, being in right place at the right time, easily put the ball in the net after Tobin Heath’s shot on goal was loose in front of Germany’s GK.

With a final score of 1-0, the USWNT has still yet to win a game by more than a single goal in the history of the SheBelieves tournament. However, after losing in only the semi finals of the Olympics, with Germany taking home the gold, this marks a big win for the USA as they prove their worth as the number one ranked team in the world.

The USWNT next plays England on Saturday, March 4th.  The match starts at 5 pm EST and can be viewed on the Fox Network.
