Jill Ellis, coach of the USWNT, has named a 24-player training camp roster in preparation for the next two friendly matches the US will play against Russia at the beginning of April.  After training concludes, Ellis will choose the 18 woman she wants to put on the roster for each match against Russia.

The current roster includes 19 of the same players that were on the SheBelieves Cup roster, where the USWNT underperformed. Some familiar names like Kelley O’Hara, Tobin Health, Alex Morgan, Christen Press, Lynn Williams, Carli Lloyd join newcomers Megan Oyster, Meghan Klingenberg and Amy Rodriquez. The complete roster is as follows:

GOALKEEPERS (3): Jane Campbell (Houston Dash), Ashlyn Harris (Orlando Pride), Alyssa Naeher (Chicago Red Stars)

DEFENDERS (6): Meghan Klingenberg (Portland Thorns FC), Ali Krieger (Orlando Pride), Kelley O’Hara (Sky Blue FC), Megan Oyster (Boston Breakers), Becky Sauerbrunn (FC Kansas City), Casey Short (Chicago Red Stars)

MIDFIELDERS (8): Morgan Brian (Houston Dash), Tobin Heath (Portland Thorns FC), Lindsey Horan (Portland Thorns FC), Rose Lavelle (Boston Breakers), Carli Lloyd (Houston Dash/Manchester City), Allie Long (Portland Thorns FC), Samantha Mewis (NC Courage), Megan Rapinoe (Seattle Reign)

FORWARDS (7): Crystal Dunn (Chelsea FC), Alex Morgan (Orlando Pride/Olympique Lyonnais, FRA), Kealia Ohai (Houston Dash), Christen Press (Chicago Red Stars), Mallory Pugh (UCLA), Amy Rodriguez (FC Kansas City), Lynn Williams (NC Courage)

Coach Ellis is ready to get the ball rolling on training as “this is [their] last chance to get together before the NWSL starts.”  She wants to “take full advantage of the training time as well as the two matches against a team in preparation for the European Championships,” she said in a press release.

Watch the USWNT take on Russia on April 6 at Toyota Stadium, and on April 9th at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Newcomer Megan Oyster was announced to the USWNT training roster for the first time.
